SINGAPOREAN ACTRESS STARS IN INTERNATIONAL FILM
Jaymee Ong stars in New Cebu Film’s action-thriller Deep Gold
Cebu, PHILIPPINES (Dec. 7, 2006) – Jaymee Ong, the Singaporean actress and host of AXN's entertainment magazine program eBuzz, will star in the international action-thriller movie Deep Gold, the maiden offering of New Cebu Films, a Bigfoot Entertainment Company.
In Deep Gold, Ong plays the co-lead, Jess Sanchez. Jess and her sister Amy are tangled in a web of deceit after a military plane mysteriously crashes. Amy’s boyfriend disappears, gold belonging to the Philippine Central Bank is missing and Jess and Amy are caught in the search for truth, and a desperate struggle for their lives.
Ong entered the entertainment industry at the age of 15 as a model. After being spotted by Jackie Chan, Ong signed to Media Asia in Hong Kong where she began her film career. She has appeared in Hollywood movies such as Dirty Deeds (2005) and Pearl Harbor (2001), and leading US TV series such as Las Vegas and Entourage.
In the Deep Gold cast with Ong is a stellar line-up of diverse nationalities. Vietnamese supermodel-turned-actress Bebe Pham plays her first leading role as Amy Sanchez. Ken Arden stars as Benny Simpson, a freelance journalist, while the role of his wife Claire is portrayed by British actress Amelia Jackson-Gray. American model Laury Prudent stars as Lulu, a wacky island DJ, and Australian model Rebecca Piket as the antagonistic Francesca.
Multi-awarded Filipino actor Joel Torre stars as Ranulfo Sanchez, the father of Amy and Jess, and eleven-year-olds Kelsey Adams and Grace Hutchings play the young Amy and Jess, respectively. Adams and Hutchings were respondents to the Deep Gold casting call.
Deep Gold has a multi-national crew headed by Executive Producer and Director Michael Gleissner, and supplemented Hong Kong based Producer Elliot Tong (Jackie Chan’s First Strike, Mr. Magoo, Kiroshiya 1 – Ichi the Killer); Technical Director Ken Siu (Jet Li’s Fearless, In the Mood for Love, Rush Hour); and, Stunt Director Ailen Sit (Tokyo Raiders 2, Shaolin Soccer, Martial Law). The Filipino crew is partly comprised of 1st Assistant Director Darwin Bolsico, Production Manager Marinette Lusanta, and Art Department Coordinator Lili Esquillon.
Bolsico’s credits include two award-winning Filipino films, Muro Ami (1999) and Jose Rizal (1998). Lusanta and Esquillon are both of the internationally acclaimed award-winning film Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros (The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros). For Esquillon’s work in the said film, she was nominated in 2005 for Best Production Design by two of the main film award-giving bodies in the Philippines, Gawad Urian and Luna Awards. That same year, Esquillon won the Best Production Design Award in the Cinemalaya Film Festival.
Filming of Deep Gold will be done entirely in Cebu, and is scheduled to wrap in April 2007. Post Production in Bigfoot’s state-of-the-art facilities in Mactan, Cebu will immediately follow. |
